Who we are

As a physician-led nonprofit in Pittsboro, The Brisa Foundation provides mental health care, skills training, and employment opportunities for youth and young adults with psychiatric illness, intellectual and physical disabilities, and hardship. We harness the power of food, art, and community—through baking classes, Sipper’s Café & Bakery, and The Whatnot Shoppe—to build real-world confidence, connection, and mental wellness.

Fun, structured baking classes where kids learn real skills, practice emotional regulation, and build confidence—side by side with peers, with thoughtful adaptations for sensory and developmental needs.
